DELAWARE (WCMH) – More than 1,600 American Electric Power customers are without electricity this morning.

According to AEP Ohio, 1,643 customers are without power in Delaware, from Liberty Road on the west to just east of the intersection of State Route 521 and U.S. 36, and from Pine Crest Drive on the north to just south of Cottswold Drive.

According to an AEP Ohio spokesperson, the outage was caused by a piece of equipment that failed. AEP originally estimated that the repairs would be completed by 10am, but the repairs are taking longer than expected. Now, workers expect to have power restored by noon.Keep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story. To get alerts for breaking news, grab the free NBC4 News App for iPhone or Android.
