COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police say two men have been charged with the murder of a woman found in a trash fire in December of 2016.

Dawan and Thomas Dortch face murder charges in connection with the death of 39-year-old Demeki Lashae Walker.

Walker’s body was discovered inside of a trash container in an alley near South Eureka Avenue.

Police say that during a search warrant of Walker’s home, evidence was found that showed she may have been killed there before being transported to the location her body was found.

The affidavit states that Dawan and Thomas Dortch were seen on video at Walker’s residence on December 22. Walker’s body was found on Dec. 23 around 12:21am.

The men were arrested Saturday, according to police and now face charges of murder and tampering with evidence. They’re expected in court on Monday.Keep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story. To get alerts for breaking news, grab the free NBC4 News App for iPhone or Android.
