GUERNSEY COUNTY, OH., (WCMH) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a crash along I-70 near the Belmont County line Saturday.

It happened around 5:41pm. The crash involved just one commercial semi-trailer hauling over 21,000 pounds of mail.

45-year old Harold Lee Stapp , of Georgia, was headed westbound on I-70 and drove off the right side of the roadway. He struck a guardrail and a concrete bridge support.

Stapp was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

It hasn’t been determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
