AUSTINTOWN, OH (WKBN) – Police say a man broke into Chad Anthony’s Italian Grille in Austintown to cook pasta on Monday night.

Police say nothing was stolen from the restaurant.

Officers were sent to the business just after 11 p.m. for an alarm going off. Police said a man, identified as Gary Robertson, 68, was standing inside the business holding his hands up. Robertson kept saying he did not break into the building, although a screen door was on the ground as if forced open.

An investigation of the building found that Robertson had removed cooked pasta from a refrigerator and turned on the deep fryer, in the process of cooking it, according to a police report.

Robertson reportedly told police that he found the door open and was hungry, saying he was merely cooking himself dinner.

Robertson was charged with breaking and entering and taken to the Mahoning County Jail.
