CHURCHILL, Manitoba (WCMH) — A Canada man who was looking for polar bears got more than he hoped for when he captured a sweet moment between one of the big Arctic predators and a sled dog.
David De Muelles “>recorded a video over the weekend that shows a bear sitting the dog, gently patting its head. De Muelles told the CBC that he was hoping to see polar bears known to spend time in that particular area.
“I’ve known the bears to have somewhat friendly behaviour with the dogs, but for a bear to pet like a human would pet a dog is just mind-blowing,” he said.
The man who owns the property, Brian Ladoon, has been raising the rare breed of Canadian sled dog for more than 40 years on the land. He charges tourists a small fee to see the roadside spectacle. Ladoon told the CBC that his dogs and the polar bears seem to get along well.
At least, until one of the bears ate one of his dogs last week.
