LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — It’s day five and there is still no sign of a murder suspect and escape artist who slipped out of a North Las Vegas Police interrogation room.
Alonso Perez, 25, had been in custody until he escaped from a detective bureau Friday on W. Cheyenne Avenue.
As police continue searching for Perez, many are still wondering how he broke free in the first place.
In this unusual investigation, the questions outnumber the answers.
Former homicide investigator Phil Ramos says these kinds of escapes are not only rare, but nearly impossible to pull off.
The escape happened when Perez was alone in a room inside the detective bureau.
“In a violent crime interview like that, you generally have two crime investigators conducting the interview. That’s the norm and we don’t know why there was one investigator in there,” said Ramos.
