UPPER ARLINGTON, OH (WCMH) — Voters will head to their polling places to cast ballots for a special election in Upper Arlington, on Tuesday.

The community will vote on whether to recall four members of the city council: Debbie Johnson, John C. Adams, David Eric DeCapua and Francis (Kip) Greenhill.

The group of residents leading the recall efforts have cited a number of issues, prompting them to advocate for the council members’ removal.

Specially, they have expressed disappointment and frustration with how the city plans to allocate funds collected through Issue 23, a 2014 income tax hike.

Voters said they were unaware of the funds going toward redesigning Northam Park.

“We’re talking about repeated statements claiming that 100 percent, by law, 100 percent of the revenue from Issue 23 would go to critical items like curbs, streets, sewer and water line repairs – no mention of parks,” said recall organizer, Steve Buser.

Alternatively, many voters oppose a possible recall, saying they were aware of the plans for Northam Park.

Previously, Councilman Adams addressed the potential for a recall.

“We have elections every two years and if you don’t like the judgment or direction the city’s taking, you have an opportunity every two years to say so,” he said. “To have a recall in between because you don’t like what’s going on in a park…it just doesn’t make any sense.”

Upper Arlington’s 14 polling places are open until 7:30 p.m.
