COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Columbus on Christmas night.

Columbus Division of Police responded to a report that a pedestrian was hit by a car on Dec. 25 at approximately 7:02 p.m. on Fairwood Avenue and Smith Road. In a Wednesday update, police said that the 911 caller was the driver of the vehicle who believed they had struck a pedestrian. CPD added they did not find a victim at the scene on Monday night.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Alisha Spence, was located on Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead at 7:52 a.m., according to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

Columbus police’s Accident Investigation Unit was notified and has initiated an investigation into the incident.
