COLUMBUS (WCMH) — It might not get the same attention as Christmas or Thanksgiving, but for back-to-school shoppers, especially parents, the upcoming holiday is an important one; the Ohio Sales Tax Holiday.
We’re 10 days away from the holiday, which spans from Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7 this year, and waives the 5.75% sales tax for those shopping for clothing and school supplies.
Clothing items must be less than $75 to qualify, while school supplies costing more than $20 are also exempt. Other excluded items:
- makeup,
- jewelry,
- wallets and
- athletic gear, such as cleats and shin guards.
A full list of exempt items can be found here.
