COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are giving a “shout out” to an officer who chased down an armed suspect, and arrested him.
Just after 1am Saturday a call for help came from 17 South Eureka Avenue where five residents say they heard a loud bang at the front door. Moments later two armed men entered the house, dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered. The men demanded money and drugs
When Officer Sommerkamp arrived he saw two suspects flee the home. He immediately alerted others arriving to the scene, and started chasing one of the suspects, John Webb. A short distance away Webb was arrested, and found carrying a shotgun and with property belonging to the victims.
Police are continuing to search for the second suspect, and ask anyone with information to call Columbus police at 614-645-4545.
