COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Interstate 670 was shut down for several hours near Grandview after a shooting that happened early this morning along the freeway.

Just after 2am, Columbus police received a report of a shooting on I-670 eastbound between Grandview Avenue and Dublin Road.

Police say three people were traveling in a pickup truck when an argument started between a man and a woman. During the argument, a shot was fired and the woman was hit in the face.

After the shot was fired, the driver pulled over, and a teen who was inside got out and ran away, according to police.

Police said the man then tried to chase the teen, possibly firing shots in the teen’s direction. The man was injured when he was clipped by a passing vehicle.

Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old John Zavatsky of Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. The victim was identified as 41-year-ol;d Heather Szymaszek. Both were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The incident is currently under investigation.
