COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Four different sobriety checkpoints are planned across central Ohio for Friday night into Saturday morning.

The Columbus Division of Police is planning to operate two checkpoints in north Columbus, the department announced Friday afternoon.

The first will be operated on Sawmill Rd. near Martin Rd. in northwest Columbus between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m . The second will be operated on Morse Rd. near Westerville Rd. in northeast Columbus between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

The Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is planning a checkpoint on US 23 near the Delaware and Franklin County line between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday.

In Marion County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol plans to run a checkpoint in the 200 block of North Main Street in Marion between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday.

The checkpoints serve as a highly visible piece of the OVI enforcement strategy. While the locations of the checkpoints are announced in advance, they are often held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols.
