A 12-year-old singer and ukulele player took a big risk when she took the America’s Got Talent stage with an original song, but it worked out for her in the biggest way possible.

Before her performance, Grace VanderWaal told the panel of judges that most of her friends don’t even know she sings. It’s safe to assume they all do now.

Her original tune, ‘I Don’t Know My Name’ is a song about finding who you are and where you fit in. The performance brought the audience to their feet with a standing ovation.

“I think you are a living, beautiful, walking miracle. Your original about people not knowing your name is so right and so wrong because I think the world is going to know your name,” said judge Howie Mandel before he hit the golden buzzer, passing VanderWaal straight through to the live shows.

If that wasn’t enough, Simon Cowell added that he believes VanderWaal could be the next Taylor Swift. “This girl is special and I’m now annoyed that I didn’t press the golden buzzer,” said Cowell.
