Clean up your act.
That’s the message from the Franklin County Public Health Department to an Upper Arlington icon.
The health department issued Windward Passage Restaurant, 4739 Reed Road in Upper Arlington, a warning letter for “repeat uncorrected violations.”
NBC 4’s Tom Sussi dug into the restaurant’s inspections for the past year.
Here are the numbers:
- 4 inspections
- 84 violations
- 26 critical violations
Recent violations include:
- Ground beef stored above raw fish in the upright cooler
- Raw fish and chicken stored above produce in the walk-in cooler
- Uncovered scallops in the walk-in cooler
- Homemade sauces and ranch dressing not date-marked
In their notes, the inspector wrote: “Person in charge is unable to demonstrate proper knowledge of the Ohio Uniform Code as evidenced by the nature and number of critical violations.”
The restaurant’s manager told Sussi: “We are working with the health department to make the corrections they asked us to make.”

On Nov. 26, the health department issued Aminata’s Daycare, 5125 West Broad St., a warning letter.
The major concern?
Evidence of rodent droppings in the building. Some of the rodent droppings were found near open bags of sugar in a cabinet.
Update
According to a Dec. 4 inspection report, there’s still evidence of rodents at this daycare center.
