GLOUSTER, OH (WCMH) — An Athens County mayor said two police officers were fired Monday after allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a house.
Glouster Mayor Miles Wolf tells NBC4 officers Ryan Keeney and Joshua Dewuell were released from their duties on Monday after the early morning incident.
The crash happened in the 9200 block of State Route 685, just outside of the village of Glouster in northern Athens County, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report. At about 5:15am, Keeney was driving his personal vehicle and was off duty when he lost control and struck a house.
Troopers found a “large hole in the siding” of the home and found empty beer bottles on the floor of the driver’s side and in the bed of the truck.
Keeney admitted to drinking, according to troopers. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol or drug abuse and driving left of center.
Dewuell was a passenger in the vehicle but was not charged. Wolf said both men were in the probationary stage as police officers and relieved of their duties.
The Glouster Police Department made a Facebook post seeking applications for officers after the two officers were terminated.
The Athens Post of the OSHP is investigating the incident. The Glouster Police Department is also conducting an internal investigation. What others are clicking on:
