MURRAY CO., OK (KFOR) — An Oklahoma teenager is alive after a direct hit from an EF3 tornado, thanks to sturdy bathroom walls and sage advice from parents.

Adopted by Angela and her family when he was 7-years-old, Daniel’s kept strong in his faith. That faith played a key role on Monday as the weather took a turn.

“I was thinking God would deliver me through this,” Daniel said.

With mom away at work, Daniel was home alone when a tornado tore through his neighborhood.

“I was on the couch right there, watching tv,” he said. “Then my dad called and said go into the hallway and get something heavy.”

Dainel went into a bathroom where he waited for 10 minutes.

“I hear glass breaking and the wind hitting on the walls,” Daniel said. “My head was down, and my eyes were closed.”

When the storm settled, Daniel crawled through the rubble to find his house had been leveled. The only walls that remained were the only walls that had protected him.

“When I pulled up, the walls standing were the ones where he was sheltered,” says Angela, Daniel’s adopted mother. “To me, that’s just God showing me I got you, I got what’s important.”
