BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WCMH) —  A 32-year-old woman was sentenced to prison on Tuesday on charges related to a January head-on crash in Logan County where a 17-year-old girl was killed.

Lakeview’s Briana Mohler was given a minimum 11-year sentence after pleading guilty on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, operating a vehicle under the influence, and driving under suspension.

Mohler’s maximum sentence will be for 16 1/2 years, which is the maximum prison term permitted under Ohio law for the charges. The Logan County Prosecutor’s Office said she was out on bail for an aggravated drug possession charge at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred on Jan. 25 before 10 a.m. at County Road 130 and Township Road 56 in McArthur Township, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said 17-year-old Chloe Hodge, a student in the Indian Lake Local school district, was driving a Honda south on C.R. 130 when she was hit head-on by a Ford, driven by Mohler, that traveled left of the center from the northbound lane.

Hodge was pronounced dead as a result of serious injuries from the crash while Mohler was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus in stable condition. Mohler was then charged in mid-February.

Hodge was a junior at Indian Lake High School and was part of the Health Careers Academy program at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. “Chloe was a bright light who always wanted to help people,” said the school district in a statement. “She was smart, funny, and always quick to lend a hand. Chloe continues to help others as an organ and tissue donor.”
