COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Columbus Division of Police has released new surveillance images of Joe LaBute, Jr., who disappeared from the Union Cafe and was found dead several weeks later.

LaBute, 26, was last seen at the popular Short North bar on March 5 at 12:30 a.m. His body was found March 29 in the Scioto River.

Sgt. Dave Sicilian said the homicide unit only discovered these photos Thursday.

Sicilian said the department is going through a “huge amount of information” about his disappearance.

He said the images show LaBute on the dance floor at Union, and show him leaving the bathroom. The photos were taken about seven minutes before LaBute disappeared, Sicilian said.

He added that there is no evidence of a hate crime in LaBute’s death. Anyone with information about his disappearance is asked to call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.What others are clicking on:
