COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Police and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office are still trying to identify a young man’s body recovered from the Scioto River yesterday afternoon.

There are still many unanswered questions including how and why he died and if he was alive when he entered the water, leaving families who have missing loved ones in anticipation of finding out who this person is.

A dive team made the discovery of the body around 1 p.m. Tuesday. He’s described as male in his 20’s.

No leads or tips led them to that particular location on the River, near Audubon Metro Park. Sgt. Dave Sicilian tells us the Special Victims Bureau was searching local bodies of water for multiple missing person cases.

He says the body wasn’t too decomposed and is in relatively good condition. The young man’s body was found fully clothed, caught in debris about 6-10 feet from the banks of the river.

The coroner’s office is working through dental records to try to indenting the man. Police say they may have new details on who this person is tonight or tomorrow morning.What others are clicking on:
