POWELL, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium offers a unique opportunity for schools, community groups and scout groups to experience the zoo like never before with its overnight programs.
The park posted about the experiences on social media, inviting participants to explore the zoo after hours, take part in special activities and gain an insider’s view of the animals’ nocturnal behavior — all while “learning about conservation and the natural world.”
The overnight events include after-hours admission on the scheduled program date, an evening snack, a guided night hike and exclusive activities. In the morning, participants are treated to breakfast and another guided hike along with full admission to the zoo for the rest of the day. It’s a unique blend of fun, education, and adventure, all set in the backdrop of the zoo’s animal regions.
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium overnight programs details:
Available: Select Friday and Saturday nights from June 1 to Sept. 28, 2024.
Time: 6:45 p.m. – 10 a.m. the following day
Deposit: A $100 per room non-refundable deposit is required at booking.
Cost: $55 per participant (adults and children) less the deposit, due three weeks before the overnight experience.
Group size: A minimum group size of 15 is required per room. The maximum group size is 25 per room.
Minimum age: The minimum age is 1st grade. Younger campers are not permitted to ensure the experience is tailored for school-age children and older.
Reservation deadline: A three-week minimum reservation is required.
The Zoo offers various themed overnight adventures, including “Skulls and Bones,” “Winter Exploration,” “Aquatic Quest,” and “Amazing Adaptations.” Each offers a unique take on animal behavior and conservation efforts. These experiences are designed to engage participants in hands-on learning and exploration, making it an educational experience wrapped in a night of fun and discovery.
