FAIRFIELD COUNTY (WCMH) — Troopers believe drug consumption played a role in a single-vehicle fatal crash in Liberty Township.
Officials from the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of an injury crash involving a car that struck a tree near Carroll-Northern Road at about 8:07 pm Friday. Troopers believe the driver, Elizabeth A. Featheringham, was heading northbound on the road in her 2008 Ford Focus when she went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
Featheringham, 38, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene by Fairfield County Coroner Ed Breining. Troopers said Featheringham was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Drugs are believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The patrol urges all motorists to not drive while impaired and to use all available safety equipment.
