COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–What better day than National Pancake Day to see photos of a newborn pancake tortoise?

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium said the little reptile hatched Sunday, and is the first pancake tortoise to hatch at this zoo since 2000.

Tortoises only lay one or two eggs at a time, the Zoo said, so the hatchling is an integral part of the Species Survival Plan.
