MOUNT GILEAD, Ohio (WCMH) — A Marion County man could spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced for sex crimes involving minors. 

Lawrence Fidler, 46, of LaRue was convicted on Aug. 2 of rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition, and sexual battery.  

A Morrow County judge sentenced Fidler to at least 20 years to life in prison. If he should be released from prison, he would be under post-release control for five years and would have to register as a Tier III sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life. 

“Only prison bars can contain the vile impulses of a child rapist,” Ohio Attorney General David Yost said in a news release. “I pray that this sentence provides the victims a chance to heal.”
