WAVERLY, Ohio (WCMH) — A state of emergency has been declared in Waverly for all water customers in the city.

The city council and fire department announced Monday morning that the city is under a do not use warning for water from Waverly Municipal Water due to a major leak until further notice. The emergency notice does not include hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis centers.

The city’s water system is experiencing “little to no pressure” due to a major leak that the city’s water and sewage department is working to repair. The do not use order is in place for workers to isolate the leak for faster repair.

An afternoon update from the fire department said bottled water will be available at the Pike County YMCA beginning at 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. The limit is one gallon per person per family per day. You can call the Pike County General Health District at 740-947-7721 for delivery as well.
