COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Police arrested a man after an overnight standoff in west Columbus.
According to Columbus police, police were originally called to a home on South Wayne Avenue after a report of domestic violence.
When the suspect, Dwaine Barnes, wouldn’t come out of the home, patrol officers called for SWAT assistance.
Police say the dispute was between a girlfriend and boyfriend. The victim was not taken to the hospital for any injuries, but Barnes is being charged with domestic assault.
Police say Barnes has warrants out for his arrest, which may have been why he didn’t want to come out.
The owner of the house told NBC4’s Katie Love that it was a few friends drinking and he did not think Barnes assaulted anyone.
No further information was released. NBC4 will update the story as more is learned.
