COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An opening date has been announced for a long-awaited Biggby Coffee drive-thru in northeast Columbus.
Biggby Coffee will open at 5026 North Hamilton Road, in the parking lot of a Meijer, on May 6, according to owner Yusra Bono.
The opening comes after about a yearlong wait. A Biggby Coffee modular unit was delivered to the northeast Columbus parking lot in May 2024. Bono said delays related to permits and other paperwork caused an extended postponement of the coffee shop’s opening.
The new Biggby Coffee franchise location is drive-thru only, meaning costumers cannot go inside, but outdoor seating will be available. Bono said she will be running the business with her mother, brother and sister.
Founded in 1995, Michigan-based Biggby Coffee is a franchise-based chain with over 430 locations across 13 states. The growing brand is doubling in size nearly every five years, according to a Biggby news release.
The company serves a variety of iced, hot and frozen coffees, along with tea lattes, smoothies and energy drinks. The brand also serves food including bagel sandwiches, donut holes, cookies and muffins. Bono said pork products on the chain’s regular menu will not be offered at her new location due to her family’s religion, but there will be alternative meat options.
Once open, the drive-thru’s hours will be Mondays through Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will open one hour later, at 7 a.m., on Sundays.
