COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — NBC4 is a proud sponsor of Canine Companions’ 50th anniversary gala, Independence Is Golden.

The event will be held on Thursday, June 12, at the North Central Training Center at New Leash Hall. The gala will celebrate Canine Companions’ 50 years of empowering people to live with enhanced independence through the partnership of expertly trained service dogs. NBC4’s digital anchor, Rachel Ramsey, will emcee the event.

Founded on July 4, 1975, Canine Companions made history by creating the concept of the modern-day service dog. Through many milestones, Canine Companions’ mission remains the same: to provide expertly trained service dogs to individuals with disabilities and facility dogs to professionals, completely free of charge.

The organization’s milestone event will include inspiring stories from graduates during an elegant evening under the twinkling lights of the North Central Training Center. The golden anniversary gala will raise funds for Canine Companions.
