RICHLAND CO., Ohio (WCMH) – On a quiet street in Mansfield, people are waiting for answers about who killed one of their neighbors.

Bambi Couch Page, the Richland County prosecutor, said Friday she believes Patsy Hudson was violently killed.

“This community has not seen such a cold, calculated and depraved crime in some time,” Couch Page said.

Hudson, 62, was last seen in July 2015 and was reported missing in December.

Investigators found human remains in four separate areas of northern Richland County over the weekend.

They said the remains could be linked to Hudson’s death, but as of Friday, the deputy coroner said they had not yet positively identified the remains as Hudson.

“If it’s her, then I feel sorry for the family,” Mark Clever, Hudson’s neighbor, said. “She didn’t deserve something like this.”

No one has been charged in connection with Hudson’s death. But Walter Renz, 53, and Linda Buckner, 57, have been charged with receiving stolen property, involving use of Hudson’s credit cards in multiple states.

Renz and Buckner, who lived next door to Hudson on Spring Street, were arrested last week in Lewis County, Tenn. and were extradited back to Ohio to appear in Mansfield Municipal Court.

“Both have provided statements to law enforcement that allege a series of criminal acts that include a horrific crime, committed against a defenseless victim,” Couch Page said.

Couch Page, who referred to Hudson as the “suspected victim,” said Friday that this was among the worst crimes she had ever seen.

“Information received to date appears to support that Ms. Hudson was violently killed, dismembered and discarded in various locations in Richland County,” Couch Page said.

On Friday, a real estate auction sign sat in the yard of the house where Renz and Buckner lived. The sign appeared sometime this week.

Clever said he and his neighbors were shocked by this investigation and Hudson’s apparent death.

“We got a lot of older people in the neighborhood, so lately we’ve been all looking out for them,” Clever said.

He added that neighbors were worried it could happen again.

“I think it’s brought the neighborhood a little closer together here,” Clever said.

Couch Page said her office had been in touch with Hudson’s family and that they asked for privacy.

Renz and Buckner are being held at the Richland County jail. The prosecutor said Renz appeared in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing and said Buckner’s preliminary hearing would take place on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
