At Jack Jacketer Intermediate School in Colchester , Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Moon wanted to give his is daughter a surprise, 6 months in the making.

“I haven’t seen them in six months,” said Moon.

According to WTIC, Moon  is 32-year veteran of the US military, was planning to come home in December. But now he is on temporary duty and has 3 days to spend with his wife and daughter.

“I thought it`d be nice to see my daughter,” he told WTIC.  Moon surprised her by welcoming her with a rose at her schools Veteran’s Day celebration.

“He wasn`t due back to come till December. So his daughter is going to be completely surprised. She doesn`t expect to see her father until Christmas time,” said Principal  Elise Butson, who helped plan this very special day.

After the emotional homecoming, Moon is planning his remaining  time at home with his loved ones.
