COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — NBC4 is committed to bringing viewers important in-depth information on Alzheimer’s disease, with our annual special “A Journey Through Alzheimer’s.”

Hosted by NBC4 anchor Colleen Marshall, the program includes interviews with local experts, personal stories from families, and information on treatments and breakthroughs.

This year, the show examined the situation of many Americans who are providing unpaid care to the nearly seven million people living with Alzheimer’s. Marshall sat down with a group of caregivers who shared what it is like caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, and how leaning on and learning from others is essential.

Previously, Marshall, who has a genetic history of the disease, took viewers along as she became an Alzheimer’s test subject. Now, Marshall shares the results of her genetic and brain tests to determine if she has started the Alzheimer’s journey.

Additionally, Marshall spoke to Ohio State University’s Dr. Douglas Scharre, who helped lead the clinical trials of the possible breakthrough drug known as lecanemab, now approved by the FDA. He also developed the SAGE test, which helps to detect early signs of cognitive, memory, or thinking impairments.
