(NBC) — NBC’s “The Voice” returns for a new season on Monday featuring the return of Adam Levine as coach, right after is the time slot premiere for NBC’s new drama “The Hunting Party,” starring Melissa Roxburgh.

Being a criminal profiler is a job Roxburgh might have done for real had her life gone another way.

“I went through a phase where I wanted to become a criminal profiler, and I went to school for that,” said Roxburgh.

Now, as the saying goes, she gets to “play one on TV” in NBC’s new drama, “The Hunting Party.”

“It’s fascinating,” said Roxburgh. “I think we’re all super fascinated with serial killers and how they wind up doing what they do and why.”

Roxburgh plays Rebecca Henderson an exiled profiler after a secret underground prison, nicknamed “The Pit” explodes setting loose dozens of dangerous serial killers.

“A lot of these old cases are ones Rebecca worked on, which is why they bring her back into this team tasked with retrieving the killers,” said Roxburgh.

But, along with that challenge is potentially an even bigger one, unraveling the mystery of the explosion at The Pit. Then again, Roxburgh is used to big mysteries after starring in the NBC show “Manifest.”

“This one is definitely more conspiracy and government secret-based,” said Roxburgh. “And there’s a lot of secrets, let me tell you.”

And she promises that sticking around is worth it.

“The pay-off at the end of the season is so, so huge,” said Roxburgh..

“The Hunting Party” premieres at 10 p.m. Monday, right after the season premiere of “The Voice.”
