(NBC) — This week is the final new episode of “Saturday Night Live” before next month’s 50th anniversary special.

The cast is pumped for that event and this week’s return of Timothée Chalamet as host and musical guest.

Timothée Chalamet has held moviegoers’ attention playing Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.” Now, Chalamet is back as the center of attention in studio 8H.

“I don’t want to say he’s like our perpetual little brother here at ‘SNL,’ but he is, he’s like family at this point,” said cast member Heidi Gardner.

For Gardner and company, they are welcoming a host who brings an all-in spirit to the show.

“He’s so much fun and when a host is so much fun, and you can tell they love where they’re at, you’re like, ‘Oh, I just want you to have the best show,’” said Gardner.

Gardner has loved where she has been, reveling in “SNL” nostalgia during a milestone season.

“Honestly, the fact that we basically had Dana Carvey and Andy Samberg back on the cast for the first half of the season, and Maya [Rudolph], it was very cool to feel a part of that,” said Gardener.

Even more so when they officially celebrate 50 seasons next month.

“I don’t know whether to be in a heartfelt or in a party moment,” said Gardner. ”I definitely know l want to be present for it all.”

But only after some more shenanigans with Chalamet.

Timothée Chalamet is both the host and musical guest this week. Watch Saturday night a 11:30 p.m. on NBC4.

”SNL” will be off for two weeks to prepare for the 50th anniversary special.
