COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Uche Ojeh, husband of NBC “Today” co-host Sheinelle Jones, has died at 45 after suffering from brain cancer.

The announcement was made on Friday’s “Today” show.

“With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and ‘Today’ co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,” Savannah Guthrie said on the morning broadcast.

According to NBC, the couple met at Northwestern University during Ojeh’s high school visit to campus, when Jones gave him a tour of the school. After dating for eight years, the pair married in September 2007.

Ojeh and Jones have three children, including their oldest son, Kayin, born in 2009 and twins Uche and Clara, born in 2012.

“One thing he always talked about — he talked about those kids,” said Craig Melvin on ‘Today.’ “He loved those kids more than anything else in this world, and was just so proud. He was that dad that was on the sideline at every soccer game. He was at all the concerts, the recitals. He was that guy, and they had such a beautiful love story.”
