NBC4’s Kristine Varkony shares exciting update on newborn son

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — NBC4 Today Traffic Anchor Kristine Varkony and her husband, Michael, have an exciting update about their newborn son, Mickey.

Nearly six weeks after being born early, Mickey has reached a significant milestone — he no longer requires a machine to help him breathe and now weighs more than 4 pounds.

As Mickey grows stronger and closer to being discharged from the hospital, Kristine is planning to return to work. She will be on air in March before taking additional time off once Mickey is ready to come home.

Kristine and Michael first shared their joyous news weeks ago after a challenging pregnancy. In a heartfelt social media post, Kristine announced Mickey’s arrival and expressed gratitude for the support received during her hospitalization.

“Michael II ‘Mickey’ was born Saturday,” Kristine wrote. “We’re both going to take a while to recover from his very sudden birth but are getting stronger every day.”

She also extended appreciation to the hospital’s NICU staff for their exceptional care, which has been instrumental in Mickey’s progress.
