NEWCOMERSTOWN, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead after a house exploded in Newcomerstown Tuesday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office told WKYC-TV.

Video posted to twitter shows a huge fireball coming from where the house once stood.

The body of a man was found amid the scattered debris. According to our crew at the scene, people claiming to be family of the man that lived in the house have not been able to reach him.

A coroner’s van has also arrived and family members have been escorted by law enforcement into a nearby school.

The school board of education cancelled classes for Wednesday.
