AUSTIN (KXAN) – The University of Texas at Austin community is mourning thedeath of a freshman dance major, Haruka Weiser.
1. Eighteen-year-old Weiser was from Portland, Oregon, where she attended the Arts & Communications Magnet Academy (ACMA), a public high school in Beaverton
2. On social media her friends said she was last seen on Sunday night, April 3. Weiser was reported missing Monday morning
3. Her body was found Tuesday, April 5 around 10:30 a.m. in Waller Creek, west of the UT Alumni Center
4. The freshman dance major was recruited by the university two years ago after they saw her at a dance performance when she was in high school
5. Weiser began training in dance while she was in sixth grade and said on her high school dance page that she has been dancing in her living room for as long as she can remember
6. She was involved in Dance Action, a student run organization for dancers
7. Weiser performed in the fall Dance Action concert
8. She worked in the wardrobe crew for the upcoming UT production of Bodies & Souls scheduled for Friday night
9. She lived in Prather dorm on UT campus
10. There is a $15,000 Crimestoppers reward for any information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect(s) involved in Haruka’s death
