COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A game of dice ended Monday evening with a drive-by shooting in which a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed.

Columbus police said the shooting happened about 5:15 p.m. on South Weyant Avenue off East Main Street on the city’s East Side.

Eleven evidence markers remained on the ground on South Weyant Avenue Monday as detectives worked to investigate the 31st homicide of 2016.

Sergeant Christ J. Holzhauser said police were told there was a crowd of people outside playing dice in the yard of 787 South Weyant Avenue when a black vehicle drove through an alley and someone started firing shots.

Police said Armani D. Anderson, 14, was shot in the torso. He was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead before 6pm.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and was also taken to Grant. He was considered stable.

Holzhauser said detectives learned there were about 50 people present when the shooting took place, but they said no one had come forward with information.

As of Monday night, police were still searching for the suspect vehicle, noting that the vehicle was believed to be black but that all the other information police had gathered was conflicting.
