CHERRY VALLEY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The Ashtabula County Animal Protection League is looking for information on who dumped 22 dead dogs on a dead-end road in Cherry Valley Twp., near the Trumbull County line.

The circumstances surrounding the dead animals are odd, as the dogs showed no outward signs of abuse and all appear to be related, according to the Ashtabula County APL. The organization posted graphic photos of the dogs that were discovered on its Facebook page Tuesday, seeking information from the public.

The shelter labeled the dogs as poodle mixes. Four bodies were sent to a local veterinarian, who will perform a necropsy in the hopes of determining the cause of death.

The bodies will then be taken to the APL, where they can be cremated.

The APL said on Tuesday, a pair of gloves were discovered at the scene by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office had no information on the case when contacted Tuesday, saying the County Dog Warden is investigating.

The APL said anyone with tips should contact the Ashtabula County Dog Warden at 440-576-6538 or the Sheriff’s Office at 440-576-9046.

Last month, several dead dogs were discovered dumped in a wooded area in Warren Township. Investigators said eight to 10 dogs, in various stages of decomposition, were found, some of which were wearing collars. What others are clicking on:
