COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Meet Hawkins! He is currently available at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center.
Hawkins is 3 years old and is one of the longest-term dogs at the shelter, according to staff. Since he was taken in as a stray, Hawkins has blossomed into a sweet, loving pup with a tail that never stops wagging and is super eager to find the perfect family.
According to shelter staff, Hawkins is treat motivated and knows “sit.” He also loves to play with all kinds of toys, loves to cuddle, and is happy all of the time. Shelter staff say Hawkins can brighten anyone’s day, just with his smile and “sloppy kisses.”
“He’s really sweet to come home to,” said Ivy Dorow, foster coordinator. “He’s just going to do so great in a home.”
According to the shelter, Hawkins tends to lack some of his awareness of his big body, so if he has the privilege of joining you on the couch or bed, he might be so excited he might roll right off. Even though he is very sweet and fun, shelter staff say Hawkins has been overlooked and is hoping more people will come in to see and play with him.
“We really want to highlight him… just giving him a chance to have someone fall in love with him,” Dorow said. “He’s really easy to fall in love with.”
If you are interested in Hawkins, he is available for adoption, foster to adopt or even long term fostering. You can meet with him at the shelter, located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus. To check out other adoptable dogs, you can view the list on the Franklin County Dog Shelter’s website.
