PEORIA, AZ (WCMH) — A man and a woman have been taken into custody after the 5-month-old boy was found inside a hot car.

According to KPHO, several witnesses administered CPR to the child, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man and woman taken into custody were not the child’s parents, but were his care takers, according to police.

Investigators told KPHO that the child had been left in the car for several before the caretakers brought him into the apartment.

“I think that’s sad because he is only five months. He can’t take care of himself,” said a neighbor.
