PATASKALA, OH (WCMH) — The Pataskala Police Department is swearing in a new officer on Wednesday — 8-year-old Braxton Long, who has been fighting glioblastoma.

The Reynoldsburg boy has fought off the cancer twice, but it has come back a third time. Long’s dream is to become a police officer when he grows up.

The police department says on Facebook that Long’s swearing in ceremony is Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 10am at Pataskala City Hall. A “cookie social” will follow.

Police are also taking Lego donations for kids in Nationwide Children’s Hospital, many of whom are Long’s friends.
