COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A 91-year-old Michigan man is spending his time in hospice helping the homeless.
Morrie Boogart is in hospice care at Cambridge Manor in Grandville, Michigan. He has skin cancer and a mass on his kidney, according to WXMI.
From his bed, he knits hats. He’s able to make one hat every two days for the last 15 years.
He donates the hats to the homeless.
“Why do I do it? It just makes me feel good,” Boogart said. “I know I have to be here but I don’t do it very fast. This has been the best thing that’s happened to me because I just stay in my room, I’m a bed patient for everything.”
Boogart said he stopped counting hats after he made 8,000 of them.
“The only time I’m not doing it is if I fall asleep,” Boogart said.
