HILLIARD, OH (WCMH) — Hilliard City Schools leaders took extra precautions, on Monday, as bus drivers began their routes.

On Friday, a driver was attacked by a man who police said “laid in wait” on the back of her bus.

The attacker stabbed and sexually assaulted the woman shortly after she left the bus compounded, according to investigators.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker and run to a nearby OhioHealth facility, where workers called 911.

In response to the incident, Hilliard City Schools superintendent Dr. John Marschhausen sent a letter to Hilliard families stating the bus compounds would have additional security until police say the threat has subsided.

Additionally, Marschhausen said police and district leaders would inspect every bus before they leave the lot.

The suspect is is only described as a man wearing dark clothing, with face paint, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to call police, immediately.
