PIKE CO., Ohio (WCMH)–As Pike County approaches the one week mark since eight people were found murdered, the community is getting ready to remember the dead and heal as one.
On Friday evening, hundreds are expected at the Pray for Pike County Vigil.
“I wanted to help out,” said Dennis Tschudy, one of the vigil’s organizers. “I mean, I’ve always loved giving back. It was the right thing to do.”

The vigil’s estimated attendance has grown so rapidly, Tschudy and his team of organizers were forced to find a new location.
“We originally wanted to have this at the high school,” he said. “We were just planning on 50 or so people to show up, but it’s turned into a lot more than expected so we had to move it up here to the fairgrounds for parking and all the other room.”
As of Thursday evening, more than 200 Facebook users indicated they would be in attendance.
While arguably the largest, the Pray for Pike County vigil is not the only sign of support around the community.
Several 4-H members delivered snacks and water to area law enforcement, working around the clock.
“We thought this would be a good idea, because they do so much for us,” said Drew Thornsberry.
