WASHINGTON (KXAN) – United States senators from Arkansas and Texas settled a dispute with an eagerly-awaited taste test on Wednesday, starring Arkansas cheese dip and Texas queso.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton gloated on Twitter, offering “better luck next time” to his Texas counterparts, senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.
Sen. Cruz entered into a soliloquy of his love for melted cheese, arguing that “it speaks to your soul, good queso relaxes you.”
In a Twitter video posted by Dallas Morning News Reporter Jordan Rudner, Cruz continued, “Look, cheese dip can be served on a Ritz cracker or with one of those tiny Vienna sausages. Queso is made to be scooped up with tortilla chips, dribbling down your chin, and onto your shirt. One is a visceral, emotional, powerful family bond as you and your kids pour into nachos covered in queso, the other is party favors at an afternoon tea.”
Sen. Cornyn looked like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but agreed with this much, “Queso’s still king.”
Sen. Cotton could not personally supervise the taste testing because his wife was in labor.
