AT&T offers free calls and texts to countries affected by hurricane

DALLAS, TX (WCMH) — AT&T is offering free calls to anyone trying to reach friends and family in several areas affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Charges for calls made between Monday and Friday from the United States to Haiti, Jamaica, Bahamas, Bermuda and Turks & Caicos will either be waived or credited back to the account, according to AT&T. This applies to landline calls, text messages and prepaid GoPhone calls.

AT&T recommends text messaging due to the possibility of overwhelmed wireless networks.
