COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ohio’s sales tax holiday for back to school shopping is underway. If you want to take full advantage, here are some deals on top of the sales tax discount.

The sales tax holiday runs through Sunday, August 7 and applies to certain items needed to get students geared up for school.

Clothing and shoes up to $75 each and school supplies or instructional materials up to $20 each will be free of taxes if purchased during this weekend.

School instructional materials like reference books, maps, globes, textbooks and workbooks qualify for the tax exemption as well.

You can also get items like steel-toed shoes, coats, jackets, rainwear, gloves, mittens, ear muffs, belts, scarves, diapers (children and adult), formal wear and bathing suits tax free if they’re under $75 each. Things like sporting equipment do not qualify.

This is the second year for the back-to-school tax holiday. According to a study produced by the University of Cincinnati, an extra $4.6 million in consumption was generated last year, along with approximately $3.3 million in savings for families.

Eligible redemption starts on the first Monday after Tax-Free weekend. Last day to redeem receipt is August 31, 2016 – so don’t dawdle. Must be original in-restaurant receipt – no copies or electronic receipts from online or mobile orders – from an Ohio Chipotle restaurant, and receipt must be dated August 5th through August 7th only.
