FAIRFIELD CO., (WCMH) — Residents in areas of Fairfield County are waking up with a boil alert Wednesday morning.

The Fairfield County Utilities Department says those living in and around Countrywood, Spring Creek, Easton Village and Peyton Ridge subdivisions are under a precautionary boil alert until further notice.

While there is no evidence that the water system is contaminated, the possibility does exist. The department has issued the alert as a precaution.

The department is conducting an investigation and collecting water samples for testing. Residents will be alerted when the boil alert is lifted.
