COLUMBUS (WMCH) — Mikeke Evans calls her son Ethan her special child, diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, the mother and son duo spend every day together. That includes school.

Ethan is home schooled. He is confined to a wheelchair, with no motor skills.

While he can’t be in a regular classroom, all he wanted was a classroom of his own. The Make a Wish Foundation granted his wish this past summer.

“He loves it. He absolutely loves it,” says Evans.

After his classroom was built, there was a slight problem. Ethan’s oasis did not come with heating or air conditioning.

“We were going to make it work where he could be out here all year round. But thank goodness we didn’t have to go that route because fire and ice stepped right in,” said Evans.

With the help of Ethan’s teacher, the classroom is now complete.

“We surveyed the room and find out which is the best application for heating and cooling in this area here and we came up with the mini split system,” said Arnie Jacobson, Sales Manager at Fire and Ice Heating and Air.

“I’m just so grateful that there are some really great people out here that care enough to do something that nice,” said Evans.

Ethan can now enjoy his classroom and all of his favorite things in it, even his sensory lights.

“Through it all he has been Superman. He really has. That is the strongest kid I know, and honestly he gives me the strength to do what I need to do to take care of him,” said Evans.
