PIKE COUNTY, OH (WCMH) – The brother of one of the Pike County massacre victims appeared in court Wednesday on charges of tampering with evidence and vandalism.

James Manley, 40, of Pike County is accused of removing and destroying a GPS device that investigators had placed on the frame of his pickup truck. Family members have said Manley discovered the device and smashed it on a sidewalk.

Manley was charged with one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony and vandalism, a fifth-degree felony. Bond was set at $80,000. By Wednesday afternoon, family members posted 10 percent and Manley was released from custody.

James Manley is the older brother of Dana Rhoden, who was found dead along with seven others in Pike County on the morning of April 22.

Manley’s father, Leonard Manley, told reporters his family had nothing to do with the murders. “I’d stake my life on in,” he said. Leonard Manley said his investigators have been “aggravating” the family for a long time. “I’m to the point where I don’t give a blankety blank about anything. I mean I watch tv and people go off the deep end and I can see why. The system sucks,” Manley said.

Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects in the murders.READ MORE: Brother of Pike County massacre victim faces tampering with evidence charge
